| Shaft encoders are used widely in industry where linear and angular displacement must be measured with high accuracy and reliability or where machine speed requires control or monitoring. Typical applications include CNC machines, robotics, printing presses, plotters, weighing systems, cut to length machines and digital position displays. The Eltra range consists of over 60 models of differing sizes, depending on the mechanical mounting required. Incremental encoders with upto 10000 pulses per rev and absolute encoders of upto 12 bit resolution are available. Rectilinear encoders and potentiometric position sensors are also available. Output styles can be NPN open collector, PNP, push-pull and line driver. Power supplies range from 5V to 28V. | There are over a million combinations of model, size, supply, output style, connector type, pulse/rev disks, shaft size, zero pulses, IP rating, and other variants. As a result, it is very hard to stock these encoders and it can lead to problems when a machinery breakdown occurs. We usually have shipments arriving every 3-4 weeks. Encoders require a digital circuit to read and count pulses to determine position. In some applications, this is not convenient. Precision potentiometers have a variable resistance or analog output which is a lot easier to measure. Also, potentiometers have an absolute output, unlike incremental encoders which loose their position reference after a power cycle. A potentiometer signal can be easily converted to a standard analog instrumentation signal like 4-20mA or 0-10V. |

This range of encoders is manufactured from Stainless Steel for high corrosion resistance in applications such as mining, food & beverage, washing and marine machinery. The sealing is IP66 to ensure they can be mounted in all weather areas. The stainless steel housing is also suitable for use in to caustic environments. |
